How does a hardware ban really work? Do they do like a mac address ban? Can they ban a mac address? Can they even see a mac address? I don't think mac addresses leave your local area network so even if you are online they aren't seeing your mac address just your IP or something

@Bloomed Well they do have software installed on your computer, so they could get your hardware MAC address pretty easily. They aren't confined to the limits of the web browser as you are insinuating.

I would bet they can combine MAC address with your hardware profile to come up with a pretty unique footprint for you to ban you by. If you have a video card/hard drive/processor combination, combine that with some ISP/IP/location data, throw in some MAC address data then you can likely have a pretty accurate ban system. I imagine that a skilled cheater could spoof some of these things and obfuscate it further but that is my guess on how a hardware ban works.
